Italian Kitchen Spokane

Come to Villa Italian Kitchen at 4750 North Division, Spokane, WA for a delicious Italian meal. Villa Italian Kitchen was founded with one store, one family and one concept in 1964, when our founder, Michele “Michael” Scotto brought his authentic old-world recipes from Naples, Italy to New York City. Michele’s commitment to hospitality, quality ingredients, like homemade dough, 100% whole milk mozzarella and fresh sauce and the strict loyalty to those now famous recipes, built the business. From that first Villa Pizza that opened in 1964, next to the CBS/Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway, to nearly 300 Villa Italian Kitchen restaurants later, our commitment to quality and genuine hospitality remains the basis of our foundation. In 2014, Villa Italian Kitchen and its parent company Villa Restaurant Group celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Today, Villa is under the leadership of Michele’s two sons Biagio “Ben” Scotto and Anthony Scotto. Together, they continue the vision and passion of their father extending the genuine hospitality inspired by their father.

So we thought we'd try out Italian Kitchen because it was rated high on recommendations for Italian food in the area. We came here on Monday, December 19th. We had a reservation, so they knew we were coming. They sat us in a booth by the window in the corner of the restaurant. Great spot! First, the place looked beautiful for the holidays with decorated Christmas trees, so that made the atmosphere warm and inviting. Our server however was tolerant at best. She didn't seem like she wanted to be there and it showed. There were just two of us. I had the Tuscan Penne which was good (not great, but good). My husband had the Seafood Fettuccine, which he likes to order when dining Italian. Unfortunately, he compared the dish to Luigi's seafood fettuccine, which did not work well for Italian Kitchen. Italian Kitchen's dish was like paste rather than a flavorful sauce and compared to what Luigi's fills their dish with (clams, mussels, shrimp and even lobster), Italian Kitchen had clams and a couple shrimp in their dish along with the “way too thick sauce” and called it good. I could have gone to at least a 3 star with just the food being okay, but this along with the service? Next time we're out for an Italian dinner, I think we'll just go around the corner.

I was excited to try a new place to me for Italian food In Spokane. WA and I was heading to Luiggi's but my hotel front desk steered me here. Here were their flaws for me last night: Greeted by the very nice young man upon entering and got a seat in the bar area which was way quieter than the main dining area. It was very dark and I struggled to read the menu. My server didn't come over for more than five minutes as I contemplated leaving if this was any indication of their service. My server was not very sincere and seemed a little dismissive but I ordered anyway. I had the Spaghetti and House made sausage Carbonarra and a dinner salad ( yes for an extra charge). Salad came and that was actually the high point of the meal and I thought, okay mediocre service but yummy food. I was wrong. The Carbonarra came and although it looked good the taste was something else. The more I ate the sausage the more bland the white sauce seemed. I want to say there are six pieces of sausage arranged on the plate that equate to two or three actual links and I ate two pieces before I ran into a piece that was cooler than the sauce it was in. I was done then. I politely called my server over and told her that while on business my company pays for my meals so I didn't want anything but to let them know about the food quality / temperature. She seemed disinterested but maybe because she was arguing with the greeter in front of customers. I called the number in my receipt, left a message, and my call was returned by Bryce. This is why I rated two stars because talking to Bryce was a good thing. My server hadn't shared my experience with him and that is exactly what I thought. Bryce's tip was to call them over when I was dissatisfied and they would have took it back to the kitchen to make right. I explained my reservation of sending anything back in any restaurant and he understood. Unfortunately what I do is never go back. I should have stuck with Luiggi's because I could see their sign from this place.
